Munduk Bali: Hiking, Waterfalls, Lakes, Temples & the Botanical Gardens

Munduk is a wonderful misty mountain village located in the central north of the island of Bali. The whole area around Munduk is even more beautiful than the village itself, and we really recommend going there on your next trip to Bali. If you love nature, hiking and want to discover an authentic Bali that is not too crowded with tourists, you should absolutely go to Munduk! Given its mountainous location, jungles with giant Banyan trees. Some of the trees and plants here look like they’re straight out of Jurassic Park, the beautiful lakes of Tamblingan and Buyan and many waterfalls’. Temperatures tend to be slightly cooler and refreshing than on the coast. There are several local restaurants if you feel adventures and also more upmarket dining for those that need a more international flavour or you can try the famous Luwak coffee.

 

We would highly recommend that you have transport or organize some day trips out of Munduk to get around. At least three days in Munduk is recommended to have enough time to enjoy the village.  Here are some ideas for you:
